OSHKOSH, Wis. -- Oshkosh police
confirm that the body pulled from the Fox River on Monday is that of the
son of Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin.
Oshkosh police started searching for Michael Philbin on Sunday night after he disappeared early Sunday morning.
Oshkosh Police Chief Scott Greuel said the cause of death has not been determined, but foul play is not suspected.Police said Philibin was with friends at University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, which is about 50 miles from Green Bay.
Police
said around the time Philbin went missing, a nearby security guard
heard someone struggling in that same area of the water

said a non-distress cell phone communication was sent from Michael
Philbin’s phone near the area of the Fox River at 2:10 a.m. Sunday.Greuel said an autopsy will be performed in Madison Tuesday.Michael Philbin was a junior at Ripon College on the dean's list.
The school is struggling with these latest events.“Clearly,
to learn that one of our students is missing, and then hearing the
circumstances and the possibilities, it's of grave concern to all of
us,” Ripon College Dean of Students Chris Ogle said.Oshkosh
police would like to talk to anyone who may have been in the area near
the Fox River early Sunday morning or was with Philbin that night.

thoughts and prayers are with Joe, his wife, Diane, and the Philbin
family as they cope with their loss. This is an emotional and difficult
time for them, and we ask that everyone respect their privacy. All of us
in the Packers family share in their grief."
