On his HBO show, Bill Maher joked that we need a "real black president" to handle the oil spill disaster. "I thought when we elected a black president, we were going to get a black president. You know, this is where I want a real black president. I want him in a meeting with the BP CEOs, you know, where he lifts up his shirt so you can see the gun in his pants. ... 'we've got a motherfucking problem here?' Shoot somebody in the foot."
Maher got a lot of laughs with those lines. Were they in poor taste? What if Glenn Beck had uttered those same words? Would reaction be different? Is one person "racist" while the other gets a pass? Watch the brief video.
