IF you were among those groaning at the idea of another Men in Black movie, then news that Oscar-winner Emma Thompson is joining the cast may perk up your interest.

According to Variety and The Hollywood Reporter, the actress is in talks to play Agent O (which, for some reason, other sites are spelling out as Oh, making it sound like she is mildly surprised).

Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones are returning to the roles of Agent J and Agent K, with Josh Brolin joining the cast and Jermaine Clement in talks to play the villain Yaz.

In the story, Yaz goes back in time to kill K which sets off a chain of events that end in the destruction of the world.
Agent J is then sent back in time to 1969, where he teams up with a young K (Brolin) to stop Yaz. Thompson's Agent O is a lead MIB agent from the 60s who is monitoring a prison break.

Barry Sonnenfeld, who helmed the first two films, returns to direct this latest instalment, from a script by David Koepp. It's set for release in 3D on May 25, 2012.

Emma Thompson's credits include The Remains of the Day, In the Name of the Father, Love Actually, An Education, the Harry Potter films and both Nanny McPhee movies.

She has won two Oscars, a Best Actress gong for Howard's End and a Best Adapted Screenplay award for Sense and Sensibility.
