WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Senator John McCain’s daughter said on Sunday that Senate nominee Christine O’Donnell of Delaware, a Tea Party favorite, is “seen as a nut job.”
“Christine O’Donnell is making a mockery of running for public office,” Meghan McCain said of her father’s fellow Republican, who recently ran an ad declaring, “I’m not a witch.”
Appearing on ABC’s “This Week,” McCain said O’Donnell “has no real history, no real success in any kind of business.”That last comment comes from a girl whose “history” and “success” comes entirely from the fact that she’s the daughter of a US Senator and former candidate for president.
Christine O’Donnell, like her or not, was put on the ballot by voters in Delaware and has a lengthy history of political activism.Meghan McCain gets attention because she’s ostensibly a Republican but likes to talk trash about conservatives the liberal media hates. Which is exactly why said media lavishes so much attention on her.
She’s a slightly more credible commentator than Levi Johnston. And I only go that far because she doesn’t come off as quite so desperate for attention as Johnston.

Christine overwhelmingly won her primary battle against the establishment candidate, so Ms. McCain’s vast experience in politics and running for office probably won’t influence many Delawareans of any age to listen to her latest rant. Her parents are truly a class act, and am certain they brought her up to be more respectful of a possible future colleague. As Christine rises in the polls, and repairs the damage done by the establishment with their false statements, the campaign will continue to focus on jobs and the out of control federal spending.”
