Today JB unveiled a new billboard with Carmelo in his Knicks uni above a Footaction near Madison Square Garden. Libya: Gadhafi Forces Advance, Rebels Prepare to Defend Benghazi

Al-Jazeera reports that rebels are retreating from the town of Ajdabiya after heavy bombardment by Muammar Gadhafi’s forces.  Ajdabiya is the last town on the road to Benghazi, the rebel stronghold.  Rebel forces have admitted to being driven out of Brega by Gadhafi solidifying their continuned retreat.   Gadhaif’s son, Saif al-Islam Gadhafi, has stated that Libyan forces will push onto Benghazi within 48 hours although opposition leaders say they are prepared for the attack.  Saadoun al-Misrati, an opposition leader in Misrata, the last rebel held city in western Libya, voiced frustration with the international community, as that city fell under heavy shelling by Gadhafi’s forces, reportedly killing five people: ”People are fed up. They are waiting impatiently for an international move.”

Whitney Houston Drags Daughter Bobbi Kristina To Rehab

Whitney Houston schlepped her stoner daughter Bobbi Kristina to rehab after pics of her snorting cocaine appeared courtesy of The National Enquirer.

Crushed by our report  that her daughter – known to friends as “Krissi” - is hopelessly addicted to cocaine and booze, Whitney begged her: “Don’t let drugs ruin your life the way they ruined mine,” sources say.

“Whitney was devastated over the photos showing Krissi using cocaine, and The National Enquirer story that quoted her telling friends, ‘I’m just like my mother,’ a friend divulged.  “She called a family meeting and sobbed as she told Krissi, ‘I don’t want to lose you.’”

The singer, 47, also canceled plans to celebrate Krissi’s 18th birthday on March 4 in Atlantis, the luxury resort in the Bahamas, the source revealed.

“Whitney called Bobby, and they agreed that Krissi needs rehab,” the friend said. “They also agreed on a tough love move to shake Krissi up, and Whitney returned a Lexus convertible that she’d bought for Krissi’s birthday.”  Now that sure is tough!

Despite her parents’ decision, Krissi is fighting the idea of rehab, said the source.  What a surprise – most addicts are rather attached to their substances and would rather do anything than give them up.

“Krissi is denying that she has a problem. She says that she does cocaine for fun and isn’t addicted,” said the source.  Sure – everyone does it for fun the first few times but when you can no longer have fun without it, you are deeply addicted.

Meanwhile, Whitney and Bobby – who have both battled serious drug habits – are blaming each other for Krissi’s problems, sources say.

“Bobby reminded Whitney that she used to have drugs all over their house,” a friend divulged. “He also accused her of being ‘coked up’ in public, looking like a mess and setting a bad example all along to their daughter,” the friend said.

But “The Bodyguard” star was quick to snap back at her bad boy ex, said the source.  “Whitney told Bobby that he did drugs too and got into more legal trouble than she ever did,” the friend said.

Bobby, 42, has been arrested for DUI, possession of marijuana, driving without a license, probation violations and misdemeanor battery for slapping Whitney.

The former “New Edition” singer, who has five children with four different women, has also been dragged into court numerous times for failure to pay child support.

“Bobby and Whitney are pointing fingers at each other, but the truth is that they’re both responsible.  Krissi has been around while her parents and their friends were drinking and drugging ever since she was a little girl,” said another pal.

Krissi was only 12 when she was photographed drinking from a wine glass as her parents looked on.

In 2008 she was admitted to a psychiatric ward after attempting to slash her wrists with a razor blade.  Krissi’s suicide bid came after she tried to stab her mother during a heated argument.

And she was just 17 when a former boyfriend – who dated her for 2 1/2 years – snapped the coke-snorting photos that appeared in The National Enquirer.  He also claimed that he saw Krissi smoke pot and guzzle beer and the potent grain alcohol Everclear.

After The ENQUIRER’s explosive story hit newsstands, Krissi took to her Twitter account to blast her ex-boyfriend.  But she admitted that it was her in the photos, and said her mother “comforted me to the max.”

Now with Bobby’s blessing, Whitney is planning to send Krissi to an outpatient rehab program, said the source.

News Flash to the Parents of Krissi – outpatient rehab only works for addicts who want to quit, and I mean DESPERATELY want to quit.  We wish Krissi the best but hold out almost no hope that this half-way measure will eliminate her drug and alcohol abuse.

U.S. Sending Drones into Mexico

The war against drugs is looking more and more like a war.

The New York Times reports that the Obama administration has started sending drones deep into Mexico to gather intelligence on the location and activities of major drug traffickers.

The Times reports that the Pentagon began flying the unarmed drones last month. The paper reported that the information is being turned over to Mexican law enforcement.

The paper also reported that a Homeland Security drone “helped Mexican authorities find several suspects linked to the Feb. 15 killing of Jaime Zapata, a United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement Immigration agent.”

DEA Seizes Execution Drug Used by State of Georgia

In an odd footnote to the death penalty issue comes this:
The DEA on Tuesday seized a key lethal injection drug used by the state of Georgia, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported.

DEA spokesman Chuvalo Truesdell said, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram: “We had questions about how the drug was imported to the U.S.”

The seizure came two months after the state executed a man who had claimed the drug was bought from a “fly-by-night” supplier in England, the paper reported. His attorneys had tried to delay the execution.
The paper reported that no more execution dates have been scheduled until the issue is resolved.

Four Times Reporters Go Missing in Libya

NEW YORK — Four New York Times journalists, including a Pulitzer Prize winner, have been reported missing in Libya, the newspaper said.

Editors said they last heard from their employees on Tuesday.
Executive editor Bill Keller reports on NYTimes.com that Libyan officials told the Times that they are trying to find the journalists.

“We have talked with officials of the Libyan government in Tripoli, and they tell us they are attempting to ascertain the whereabouts of our journalists,” Keller said. “We are grateful to the Libyan government for their assurance that if our journalists were captured they would be released promptly and unharmed.”

Missing are Pulitzer-Prize-winning reporter and Beirut bureau chief Anthony Shadid; reporter/videographer Stephen Farrell; and photographers Tyler Hicks and Lynsey Addario.

“Their families and their colleagues at The Times are anxiously seeking information about their situation, and praying that they are safe,” Keller said.

Miami-Dade Voters May Oust Mayor in Largest Municipal Recall

Bloomberg reports:

Miami-Dade County voters are poised to oust Republican Mayor Carlos Alvarez today after he raised property taxes to help close a deficit. Florida’s most-populous county would become the largest U.S. municipality to recall a top official.

Voters in the county, home to the city of Miami, favor a recall by 67 percent, according to a poll commissioned by the Miami Herald dated March 5. They may also remove Commissioner Natacha Seijas, the survey showed. The newspaper said the poll reflected “discontent crossing all political and demographic lines.” Forty-one percent cited the tax increase as their reason for favoring a recall.

Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch.

Rapper-Singer Nate Dogg Dies at 41

The Soul Man of G-Funk Nate Dogg has died at the age of 41, his family announced on late Tuesday.

Nathaniel D. Hale, better known as Nate Dogg, was born and raised in Long Beach, Calif. His death was first reported by his hometown newspaper the Press-Telegram, who did not specify the cause of death.
The four-time Grammy nominee appeared on numerous tracks for hip-hop’s biggest stars including Dr. Dre, Eminem, 50 Cent, and Snoop Dogg, and released three solo albums throughout his career.

“R.I.P. TO MY HOMEBOY NATE DOGG DPGC DOGG POUND GANGSTA 4 LIFE,” tweeted his frequent collaborator Daz Dillinger.

Hale suffered two strokes, one in 2007 and another in 2008, and affiliate Warren G had alluded to his health problems in recent days. “For those that dont know awhile back nate had 2 strokes he is in therapy thanks again for your support,” tweeted the Regulator.
