Disgraced Miss. judge to report to federal prison
JACKSON, Miss. – Bobby DeLaughter, a former Mississippi prosecutor and judge whose legal conquests became the subject of books and a movie, is set to report to federal prison Monday for lying to the FBI in a judicial bribery investigation.
The next chapter of DeLaughter's life, as inmate No. 12930-042, marks a long fall from the height of his legal career in 1994 when he was a prosecutor who helped convict a civil rights-era assassin for the 30-year-old murder of NAACP leader Medgar Evers.
The 55-year-old DeLaughter (deh-LAW'-ter) was to report to a federal prison camp in McCreary, Ky., by 2 p.m.
DeLaughter's lawyer, Thomas Durkin of Chicago, told The Associated Press on Monday that he didn't know exactly what time DeLaughter would report to prison, but that he wouldn't be late. A prison official said he was not in custody as of about 10:45 a.m.
DeLaughter was sentenced to 18 months in November after pleading guilty to lying about secret conversations he had with a lawyer while presiding over a dispute between wealthy lawyers over legal fees. As part of a plea deal, prosecutors dropped conspiracy and mail fraud charges.
DeLaughter made a name for himself as an assistant district attorney when he helped put away Byron de la Beckwith for Evers' 1963 murder.
He was appointed to the bench in 2002 and was later elected to the position.
His storied career ended with the same bribery scandal that toppled Richard "Dickie" Scruggs, chief architect of the multibillion-dollar tobacco litigation of the 1990s — which was depicted in the movie "The Insider," starring Al Pacino and Russell Crowe.
DeLaughter was presiding over a lawsuit in which a lawyer sued Scruggs for a bigger cut of millions in legal fees from asbestos litigation. Prosecutors said DeLaughter ruled in Scruggs' favor in exchange for a promise that he'd be considered for a federal judgeship, with help from Scruggs' high-powered connections.
DeLaughter ruled in 2006 that Scruggs didn't owe the former partner anything more than a belated $1.5 million payment. The ruling was contrary to the findings of a special master appointed to weigh the evidence before trial.
DeLaughter pleaded guilty only to lying to the FBI about conversations he had with his old boss, former Hinds County District Attorney Ed Peters. Peters was accused of receiving $1 million to influence DeLaughter, but he cooperated in the investigation and was not charged.
Michael Jackson, still able to blow Lenny Kravitz away
Yet another Michael Jackson song has leaked from the late singer’s huge back catalog of songs. A 90 second snippet of” Another Day” leaked onto Youtube last night, via fan site MJ Star.
The song is said to be a version of Lenny Kravitz’s 2004 single “Storm”, which featured Jay-Z. Beyond the lyrics, however, you wouldn’t know they are the ’same’ song, and whilst Kravitz is credited, his vocals are not heard in the snippet.
Unlike the underwhelming “This Is It”, “Another Day” is a real stormer of a track. The production stands up to modern standards, and has MJ at his raging best: “You’re the one that makes me strong/ I can’t wait for another day/ You’re the fire that keeps me warm/ I can’t wait for another day.”
The song may have been recorded around 2004, when Kravitz’ album Baptism was released. Kravitz wrote to Spinner following the singer’s death in 2009: “I got to work with Michael on a track that has not been released and it was the most amazing experience I’ve had in the studio. He was funny. Very funny and we laughed the whole time.” Whether the song was “Another Day” remains to be seen.
Whilst it’s nice to see some new material, we can only hope that Jackson’s estate stems the flow of leaked tracks and picks the best of the bunch for the inevitable cash-in albums.
Court Officer Killed And Deputy Marshall Wounded In Vegas Shootout
LAS VEGAS — Armed officers were seen evacuating the Lloyd D. George Federal Building following a shooting Monday morning.
A court security officer was killed in the shootout and a Deputy U.S. Marshal was injured. The gunman was also killed.
University Medical Center representative Rick Plummer said the fallen officer was 65 years old but could not release his identity.
Cell phone video posted on YouTube recorded the sound of dozens of gunshots outside the building. The last words recorded on the video were, “I think they got him.”
The shooting broke out in the lobby of the building, located on Las Vegas Boulevard between Bridger and Bonneville avenues.
Surrounding streets were closed immediately by police and drivers were urged to use alternate routes around downtown, including Interstate 15 to the west and Maryland Parkway to the east.
Federal Building employees were being taken to the nearby Las Vegas Academy.
The building, which houses the federal courthouse, opened in 2004. It was one of the first new federal office buildings designed to meet security standards enacted after the Oklahoma City bombing.
The courthouse contains 10 courtrooms, as well as offices for United States Marshals and the U.S. Attorney, as well as offices for Sens. Harry Reid and John Ensign.
Reid released a statement saying, “My thoughts are with the [shooting victims] and their families.”
US HIV/AIDS immigration ban lifted
Recently we wrote about President Obama’s decision to overturn the 22-year-old ban on travel and immigration to the U.S. by HIV-positive people. Today the new rules come into force. You can read the BBC’s report on the issue here.
The ban was imposed at the height of a global panic about the disease at the end of the 1980s.
It put the US in a group of just 12 countries, also including Libya and Saudi Arabia, that excluded anyone suffering from HIV/Aids.
The BBC’s Charles Scanlon, in Miami, says that improving treatments and evolving public perceptions have helped to bring about the change.
Rachel Tiven, head of the campaign group Immigration Equality, told the BBC that the step was long overdue.
“The 2012 World Aids Conference, due to be held in the United States, was in jeopardy as a result of the restrictions. It’s now likely to go ahead as planned,” she said.

Tiger Woods: Vanity Fair's New Shirtless Cover Boy
Raaaar! Vanity Fair is capitalizing on the Tiger Woods scandal. Have you heard? He cheated on his wife.
This photo, taken pre-scandal, by photographer Annie Leibovitz is one of many never-seen-before photos of the golf great. The article by Buzz Bissinger delves into the scandal and what lead up to it.
When Tiger Woods finally fell from his pedestal--the car crash, the angry wife, the tales of kinky extramarital sex, the link to a controversial sports doctor--it was one of the greatest recorded drops in popularity of any nonpolitical figure. Given Woods's impenetrable mask of perfection, and the hints of trouble from one strange glimpse behind it, the revelations were inevitable and very, very costly.
Single black women should end the blame game
By Dr. Boyce Watkins
Hopefully we can all agree that there is nothing more precious and beautiful than a well-made African-American woman. Your definition of "well-made" may vary from mine, but when I see my daughter, sister, mother and grandmother, they're exactly what I'm referring to.
I recently watched an ABC News special about black people not getting married. It featured a set of beautiful, intelligent black women who couldn't find husbands. One of the women was even a cheerleading attorney who said that, no matter how hard she tries, she just can't find a black man willing to marry her. The show quoted Steve Harvey, who wrote a book on relationships last year, and allowed the rest of America to drone on about how sad it is to be a black woman, where the men you want are just too blind and pathetic to see how great you really are.
I can't help but find it odd that black women in America are taking relationship advice from a comedian. Not to hate on Steve, but you've got to wonder if there is a qualified relationship counselor available somewhere who actually studied this stuff in school. Perhaps it's because black America is getting relationship advice from a comedian that our family structures have become a great big national joke.
We know the story: over 70% of all African-American women don't have husbands. That is a tragedy for the entire family, especially the children. The joint social trauma inflicted by a poor educational system, mass incarceration and massive unemployment among black men has come together to create an unsustainable set of social outcomes. That's not to mention the black men who've either chosen to date other men or can't see the beauty of black women when they know that Elin Nordegren might be available. Yes Houston, we have a problem.
I often wonder if there is more to the black relationships story than that. Here are some thoughts to consider:
1) Whites aren't staying married either, so this is not just solely a black issue. The next time Barack Obama gives a speech about black men "behaving like little boys" because they don't live with their children, I would love to see him give that same speech to the millions of divorcees in white America. Given that roughly 50% of white marriages end in divorce, we can't presume that black people create the only dysfunctional families in America. All of America is turning away from marriage, and that's just a fact.
2) Are men the only ones to blame here? When I watched the beautiful women on the ABC special who felt that they could never find a husband, I heard some of my educated, fully employed male friends say, "I'd marry any one of them right now!" Over the years, I've seen many women pass over good men who would make excellent husband/boyfriend/baby daddy material. (Sorry, I hold no ill will toward baby's daddies - I only care about love, not labels).
I've noticed that there are many women who spend all their time chasing the alpha male who may have 10 different girlfriends at once and ignoring the less-than-perfect man who is willing to be their lifelong mate. Given that it's illegal to marry more than one person at a time, many of these "Michael Jordan types" fill the gender gap single-handedly by occupying the attention and loyalty of several women at once.
Perhaps the next time you're chasing the super-fine, super-hunk man of your dreams, you might consider the fact that there is probably a new woman chasing him down every single day. That's not to say, however, that you don't have the right to be attracted to whatever you want - just realize that dating is a market, like searching for a job. The more constraints you put on your search, the fewer options you are going to have. So, if you are passing up men because they are 6'1" instead of 6'2", you'll get very little sympathy as you sit around the fire with your girlfriends crying into a glass of red wine. Your Prince Charming may never have belonged to you in the first place, and you may have kicked the real Prince Charming to the curb.
3) Doesn't it take two to tango? The last I checked, there were usually two people in a relationship. So, although Attorney General Eric Holder has joined the chorus of politicians gaining political points for blaming black men for being the sole cause of the breakdown of the African-American family, I often wonder why African-American women are rarely held to account. This does not imply that black women are systemically unbalanced; we all know that each individual is unique. But it does imply that the same challenges imposed by racism have affected all of us.
I'm sorry if this hurts your feelings, but I've got to be real. Most kind, attractive, intelligent women are able to find good husbands. Some of us spend our lives either barking up the wrong trees or barking in a way that sabotages our objectives. To obtain a good mate, you must learn how to be a good mate and how to choose a good mate. So, after you finish reading Steve Harvey's book, you may want to read, "Secrets about Men Every Woman Should Know," by Dr. Barbara De Angelis. She also wrote, "What Women Want Men to Know," a book based on scientific research, not just speculation. The idea is that in order to get what you want, you must learn how to give what others want. But you can't effectively give to others if you're only thinking about yourself.
4) What's REALLY going on with families and children? You don't necessarily get to declare yourself the hero in a failed relationship just because you kept the kids. In fact, oxytocin production in the brains of women during pregnancy creates a nearly unbreakable bond that makes it almost impossible for women to let go of their children. So, for us to presume that black fathers are being irresponsible because their children do not live with them is a terribly misguided assertion.
Also, while we are quick to share stories of fathers who don't spend time with their kids, we are not so quick to share the stories of fathers who've been alienated from their children or have children who've been trained to hate them. Trifling fathers need not apply for this explanation, but we know that irresponsible behavior does not always align with gender. The most important determinant of a child's outcomes in life is the disposition of the mother. If the mother does not open the door for a child to have a good relationship with his or her father, then no such relationship is going to exist.
5) Perhaps we should work together to solve the problems. Anyone who simply sits around complaining about how irritating other people are without doing any serious introspection is doomed for a life of frustration. Additionally, given that there are serious obstacles being faced by black men, perhaps we should all work together to support causes that serve to liberate African-American men from the shackles of oppression.
President Obama should hear consistent chants from the black community about the fact that black male unemployment is as high as 50% in some urban areas, keeping these men from being able to provide for a family. Anyone who loves any black man anywhere should tell Attorney General Holder that we must stop supporting the prison industrial complex and simultaneously create paths for ex-convicts to re-enter into society.
If you have a black son, brother, father, or husband, you should want to fight against the fact that black boys are nearly five times more likely to be placed in special education than white kids, severely impacting their graduation rates. An uneducated, unemployed man in the criminal justice system is not going to make a good husband; not every black man in these circumstances is consciously choosing to end up this way.
Whether we like it or not, we are in this boat together, and most of us are guilty of the blame game on some level. Perhaps it's time to stop blaming each other and find the real cause of these very real problems. To slightly modify the words of Steve Harvey, "Act like a lady, but fight for your man." The black family needs support from us all.
The Single Black Female and the Faulty Premise
Last week, single black women were ushered into the new year by an ABC News report that suggested "finding the right man is proving elusive." The segment, which aired on 'Nightline,' predictably framed the issue by asking "are the standards of black women too high or are the pickings too slim?" It's not exactly an original question.
The proposition has been repackaged time and time again. It's damaged goods at this point. Nonetheless, it's tempting to oversimplify the reasons why so many black women find themselves living the single life well into their thirties and beyond. It doesn't help that the chatter detailing their circumstances, although often misrepresented and misguided, stays at a fever pitch. It's hard to sort between fact and fiction at times.
In part, popular culture and the whole "life imitating art" concept are to blame. One too many television shows centered around gabbing girlfriends and three too many movies starring the ever-present Gabrielle Union and Morris Chestnut have provided watered down interpretations of male-female dynamics. Real-world relationships, and the pursuit of them, are multidimensional and far more nuanced. Therefore, the idea of reducing the real, heartfelt experiences of black women to the cliché storylines of the urban romantic comedy genre is a disservice to black women. It should also be noted at this point that some black women are actually single by choice, something that 'Nightline' chose not to acknowledge.

Five Americans held in Pakistan deny terror attack plan
Pakistan court jails Americans for 14 days to give police time to prepare terrorism charges against them
Five Americans detained in Pakistan denied today they planned to carry out terrorist attacks, as a court granted police two weeks to prepare terrorism charges against them, their defence lawyer said.
The young Muslim men from the Washington, DC, area were arrested in early December in the eastern Pakistani city of Sargodha in a case that has spurred fears that westerners are travelling to Pakistan to join militant groups. Pakistani police have said they plan to seek life sentences for the men under the country's anti-terrorism law.
The men, aged 19 to 25, denied they had ties with al-Qaida or other militant groups during a court appearance in Sargodha, said their lawyer, Ameer Abdullah Rokri.
"They told the court that they did not have any plan to carry out any terrorist act inside or outside Pakistan," said Rokri. "They said that they only intended to travel to Afghanistan to help their Muslim brothers who are in trouble, who are bleeding and who are being victimised by Western forces."

Spending Priorities In NYC
How did something like this manage to survive the budget process? Did someone need to tell junkies how to shoot up heroin? This particular budget item cost $32,000 to print up 70,000 flyers telling people how to shoot up heroin safely.
The city spent $32,000 on 70,000 fliers that tell you how to shoot heroin, complete with detailed tips on prepping the dope and injecting it into your arm.
The Health Department handout has outraged New York's top drug prosecutors and abuse experts.
"It's basically step-by-step instruction on how to inject a poison," said John Gilbride, who heads the Drug Enforcement Administration's New York office.
"It's sick," said City Council member Peter Vallone Jr. (D-Queens)
"Foolish," said Columbia University drug researcher and treatment expert Dr. Herbert Kleber.
The 16-page pamphlet features seven comics-like illustrations and offers dope fiends such useful advice as "Warm your body (jump up and down) to show your veins," and "Find the vein before you try to inject."
At a time when the City is scrambling to find the funds to stave off massive cuts to mass transit, including the elimination of free passes for students to get to schools, it would seem that these kinds of nonsensical projects should be axed to not only get the city's budget in order, but to free up revenues for more worthy programs. The Health Department seems to think that this is a worthy expenditure of taxpayer money, and yet all it shows is that there is all too much waste and nonsensical expenditures that encourage bad behavior - such as doing illegal and dangerous drugs.
4 year old struck by stray bullet in church dies
A four-year-old boy who was struck by a stray bullet in his church in Decatur, GA has died of his injuries.
Marquel Peters was hit by a gunshot that came in through the roof of the church. His mother described the incident:
“I heard a little sound like a ‘pink.’ I heard him scream a little bit, so I looked around to hand him the game and that’s when I saw the blood,” she said. “I tried to pick him up and then, he was losing consciousness and he was just breaking and going down. It was so hard.”
The boy’s injuries were originally thought to be due to a piece of debris or other matter from the roof, but an autopsy later revealed the presence of a bullet in the child’s head. Marquel’s mother Nathalee Peters remains in shock over the sudden loss of her child and hopes the person responsible for her son’s death will come forward:
“It’s hard. He was my only child. He was only 4. He was a smart little boy, he was so sweet,” said his mother, Nathalee Peters.
The incident occurred around midnight on Friday at the Covington Drive Church Of God of Prophecy in Decatur.
NBA Gun Incident Grand Jury Bound
A plan is in place to convene a grand jury to determine if NBA star Gilbert Arenas and teammate Javaris Crittenton will be charged with crimes for their alleged Xmas eve locker room gun-toting showdown ... law enforcement sources tell TMZ.
Arenas -- aka Agent Zero -- and Crittenton are being interviewed by D.C. detectives right now. Law enforcement tells TMZ after the interviews, the plan is to take the case before the D.C. grand jury. We're told the U.S. Attorney (which presents local cases to the grand jury in D.C.) will call the head coach for the Washington Wizards and someone on the security team at the Verizon Center as witnesses.
We're told, in addition to weapons charges, Arenas and Crittenton could be charged with criminal assault.
As for their interview with cops, a rep for the U.S. Attorney's office is present and the case could go to the grand jury as early as today.
Both players have said the incident was nothing more than a prank.
Ben Bernanke Looks In Mirror, Sees Barney Frank
By Mike Shedlock
Fed chairman Ben Bernanke is back at it again, pointing the crisis finger at everyone but himself. To be sure there are plenty of congressional clowns deserving of a Babe Ruth style "big point", but the biggest point belongs straight at himself.
Please consider Bernanke Blames Weak Regulation for Financial Crisis.
Regulatory failure, not lax monetary policy, was responsible for the housing bubble and subsequent financial crisis of the last decade, Ben S. Bernanke, the Federal Reserve chairman, said in a speech on Sunday.
“Stronger regulation and supervision aimed at problems with underwriting practices and lenders’ risk management would have been a more effective and surgical approach to constraining the housing bubble than a general increase in interest rates,” Mr. Bernanke, whose nomination for a second term awaits Senate confirmation, said in remarks to the American Economic Association.
Technical models based on historical trends in United States housing prices and monetary policy show that home prices rose much faster than interest rates alone would have predicted, Mr. Bernanke said.
He also argued that trends in other countries demonstrated a “quite weak” connection between housing price appreciation and monetary policy.
Jim Zorn Fired As Head Coach Of Washington Redskins
Washingtonians have seen the last of Jim Zorn. The Washington Redskins fired its disgraced head coach shortly after the team returned to Redskins Park following a season-ending 23-20 loss to the San Diego Chargers early Monday, The Washington Post has learned.
The loss ended the Skins’ worst season in nearly 15 years: the team finished with a 4-12 record.
It was Redskins Executive Vice President/General Manager Bruce Allen who announced that Zorn has been dismissed and will not return as the franchise’s head coach in 2010. In a statement, Allen, who has been team General Manager for three weeks, said he “felt it was necessary to not waste a moment of time building this team into a winner.”
(Good luck with that, buddy…..)
Allen explained that his three-week game observation period was all the time he needed to make the decision that Zorn needed to go.
“The status quo is not acceptable. I felt it was necessary to not waste a moment of time building this team into a winner.”
Zorn was 12-20 over two seasons as head coach of The Washington Redskins. He was 6-18 in his last 24 games and still had one year left on his contract.

Tallest Building In The World: Burj Dubai Tower PHOTOS
Burj Dubai Tower the world’s tallest building with more than 2,683ft and 169 floors, will officially open doors with a fantastic fireworks display today (January 4, 2010) even though it is not completely finished yet.
The hotel takes up the first eight floors with suites on the 38th and 39th. Residential apartments go up to the 108th floor – at about 1,300 feet. A number of the higher floors – up to the 160th – have been designated as office space, while there is a restaurant on the 122nd floor and a gym, with an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, on the 123rd floor – some 1,440 feet off the ground. On the 124th floor is the world’s highest observation deck. The Burj Dubai is also intending to host the world’s highest nightclub – on the 143rd floor.
WOW! Architect Adrian Smith is the man behind another Dubai exuberance. If you can dream it, you can do it, right? Who cares if the building is not perfectly working yet? Just book me a residence suite! I’m ready to move to Dubai right now!
Counterterrorism czar takes aim at Cheney
U.S. President Barack Obama's top counterterrorism adviser accused Dick Cheney of misrepresenting Obama's position on terrorism or being "ignorant" of it.
"I'm very disappointed in the vice president's comments," John Brennan, assistant to the president for homeland security and counterterrorism, told NBC News Sunday.
"Either the vice president is willfully mischaracterizing this president's position -- both in terms of language he uses and the actions he's taken -- or he's ignorant of the fact. In either case, it doesn't speak well of what the vice president's doing," Brennan said.
The aide was responding to the former vice president's recent criticism of Obama's response to the attempted bombing of Northwest Flight 253. Cheney had accused Obama of "trying to pretend we are not at war."
Brennan said Obama has been "very, very strong" on terrorism as far back as his inaugural address a year ago.
"I would not have come back into this government if I felt that this president was not committed to prosecuting this war against al-Qaida," said Brennan, who has worked for the past five presidential administrations.
Mitt Romney's 'No Apology' Book Tour Will Hit 18 States Including Iowa
Christina Bellantoni
Former Massachusetts governor and probable second-time presidential hopeful Mitt Romney will soon be back on the trail and hitting Iowa to promote what has been described by his spokesman as "an ideas book.''
The Boston Globe took a look at the March 2 kickoff for Romney's "No Apology: The Case for American Greatness."
Romney (R) will speak at Iowa State University in Ames and visit Des Moines, but the book tour should not be expected to mirror Sarah Palin's, the Globe reported. They haven't announced the stops for the rest of the tour, which will wind through 18 states.
Romney spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom told the Globe:
"Inevitably there are going to be comparisons with the Sarah Palin book ... We're not going to match her crowd size or sales. These are two different people with different ways of expressing themselves.''According to the Globe, the "No Apology" publisher will print 200,000 copies of the book, far less than the 1.5 million copies printed in the first run of Palin's "Going Rogue."
Romney often pointed to stories from "Turnaround," his book about his role in the 2002 Winter Olympics, on the campaign trail.
His Free and Strong America PAC contributed more than $427,000 to candidates and "conservative causes" in 2008, Fehrnstrom told TPMDC. Romney also traveled the country for the GOP presidential ticket in 2008, but kept a lower profile in 2009.
Brit Hume Preaches To Tiger Woods
He retired from Fox News in 2008 and it seems like Brit Hume might just think that he's now a missionary for God. Hume returned to his former home network to chat about Tiger Woods and the recent domestic strife we're all pretty tired of hearing about. He couldn't resist taking a cheap dig at Buddhism and, at the same time, plugging the Christian faith. Said he about the pro golfer:
Whether he can recover as a person depends on "his faith. He's said to be a Buddhist. I don't think that faith offers the kind of forgiveness and redemption that is offered by the Christian faith. So my message to Tiger would be, "Tiger, turn to the Christian faith and you can make a total recovery and be a great example to the world."
Someone should tell Hume it's going to take a lot more than jumping religions to save Tiger's depreciating brand.
Watch video of Hume making the above amusing comment after the jump.
Daryl Mikell Brooks Announcement for Trenton City Council at Large
Announcement Letter
My name is Daryl Mikell Brooks and I’m running for City Council at Large. I’m a young man who believes in participatory democracy and equitably representative government. The Trenton City Council election in 2010 is both a job opening and a job review. My vote as a Trenton resident and emboldened candidate will be for leadership change in the city!
Trenton has a depressing reputation in the state, possibly the worst for any area in New Jersey and I hate that! I’m proud to be a Trentonian and I want to help revitalize the social and economic conditions here and help to repair the damaged city reputation. I grew up in Trenton and I love this community enough to raise my young family here today. I understand many of the complex issues that challenge the city neighborhoods and envision significant community improvements.
The Trenton politicians who are largely disconnected from the community are not qualified to represent this area. I feel misrepresented by the incumbent so I am compelled to serve my hometown by campaigning to be the change I want to see in City Hall! Doug Palmer and the city council public policy and constituent service records are unacceptable. I propose term limits for our Trenton City Council Members. Three terms is enough.
As a Community Organizer I greatly value community engagement. If our country is going to experience the significant “change we need” nationally then we all must contribute locally. Let’s improve Trenton together. I don’t believe the City government can be effective enough in its service to residents if most of us are disengaged. True democracy means government that is “of, for and by the people.” Communities must be organized and welcomed to challenge and support the elected officials hired to serve us by governing our City well – true democracy. We need progressive, engaging, equitable and efficient governance that truly serves the people, over profits!
My campaign mission is to help establish a City wide Community Coalition that helps foster a greater sense of community by organizing a critical mass of residents committed to civic participation, government accountability, community responsibility and good neighborliness. I want Trenton to work together and will facilitate greater cooperation based on our common interests. We all share a human experience so we can identify common ground.
I envision a proud, cooperative, healthy, clean, safe, vibrant, and peacefully diverse city –a multi-cultural, inter-generational and mixed income community. I envision an organized and effective City Wide Community Coalition that works together to successfully: (1) overcome the foreclosure crisis, (2) reverse economic disinvestment and (3) foster opportunities for: (a) viable youth development, (b) family stability, and (c) educational and economic advancement for all. That is my campaign platform, encapsulated.
The Daryl Mikell Brooks candidacy will carry consciousness, conscientiousness, compassion, creativity, a collaborative spirit and courage to the City Council to represent and serve Trenton in City Hall! My politics are non-partisan, honest, inclusive, socially progressive, fiscally responsible, and humane overall.
Trenton Stand UP! “Yes We Believe”!
