Obama: “I don’t think about Sarah Palin”

Stop bragging.Barack Obama readily admits that he lives in a bubble. Obviously, this has some distinct disadvantages for Understanding The People (as if “the people” ever provide a coherent opinion between them), and the idea has negative connotations. But it is also in many ways a good thing. Like, at some point he was able to tell his aides he understands who the Teabaggers are and doesn’t need to hear them blather on about their hatred of the words “socialism” and “black” and “green vegetable.” But also, there’s this: “When asked specifically if he thinks he can beat Sarah Palin in 2012, the president told Walters ‘I don’t think about Sarah Palin.’” Must be nice to live in that bubble.

This is a man who can look at the Washington Post’s op-ed page and see only articles that aren’t about Dancing with the Stars (if there were any, that is), because they’ve all been cut out before it was handed to him. We are now all envious of this man’s life. Apparently the only defense against having this woman and her rhetoric burrow into your brain is to be the most powerful man in the world. We are all doomed.
“Obviously Sarah Palin has a strong base of support in the Republican Party and I respect those skills,” Obama said. “But I spend most of my time right now on how I can be the best possible president. And my attitude has always been, from the day I started this job that if I do a good job and if I’m delivering for the American people the politics will take care of itself.”
It’s cute that he thinks the politics will do that. He doesn’t seem to be aware he is an illegal Ethiopian terror-anchor baby in league with Bollywood to impose mercantilism on us. But that will be the line of argument that defeats him in a couple years. [ABC]
