According to the Wall Street Journal,
about 1 in 7 in the U.S. receive food stamps. There are 44.2 million
Americans receiving food-stamps. The Walls Street Journal created a map
of food stamp usage from the U.S. Department of Agriculture data.
Breaking down the data by state, it shows how many people in each
state receive food stamps. In Mississippi and Oregon at least one in
five residents are receiving benefits. Wyoming has the lowest rate of
recipients of about 6.6%.
